Located within a mile of Gloucester City Centre, the Basin at Monk Meadow was opened in 1892 originally to provide quay-space for the timber trade. It now serves as an off-line marina and lies close to local shops and amenities, as well as the fascinating Gloucester Waterways Museum.
The layout of the moorings allows for small and large craft, with berth sizes at 8m, 18.5m and 20m in length. With 40 berths, it is one of our largest sites in the South West of England.
The site is off the A430 (Hempsted Lane/Secunda Way roundabout), approximately half a mile south of Gloucester Docks.
The nearest facilities are at Llanthony pontoons, Gloucester, approximately 300 yards to the north. Facilities there include water point, refuse disposal, elsan and pump out. There are other facilities, including toilets and showers at Harbour House in Gloucester Docks, 100 metres north of Llanthony Bridge. There are also boat repair facilities in Gloucester Docks.
There is no car parking available at the site. Daily & monthly parking is available in the Sainsburys car park and you can book spaces there through a web-site operated through Horizon Parking (www.horizonspaces.co.uk). Charges range from £5 a day, or £45 per month.
Access onto these pontoon moorings is for key holders only and keys can be purchased from the Moorings Manager upon payment of a £50 deposit for each key, which is refundable upon return.
The mooring site is approximately one mile from Gloucester city centre.
IMPORTANT NOTES: The land surrounding Monk Meadow Basin is currently undergoing re-development. The construction of the residential dwellings is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2020.
During this period there may be some disturbance to mooring customers, and throughout the redevelopment works there will be no vehicular access permitted to the moorings and mooring customers will need to park off-site.
The perimeter of the site is accessible to view, however, the entrance onto the pontoons has a locked gate. Please phone the Moorings Manager if you need access to the pontoon.
