Brentford Island L1

Brentford Island is a Premium mooring site on the lower end of the Grand Union Canal in west London. The secure marina is predominantly for leisure use, although 5 of the 37 berths have official residential status.

Brentford is emerging as one of west London fasting growing areas and development will shortly start on a large swathe of land between the River Thames and the High Street which will result in new dwellings, shops, leisure attractions and riverside walking routes.

Additional Information

There is a service bollard between each pair of boats with shared water tap, one electric socket and meter supply per boat (amp supply may vary). Commercial boats selling coal, gas and diesel visit the area regularly.

On the towpath opposite there is a facilities building which provides toilets, showers, refuse disposal, water point, Elsan and pumpout. These services are provided by and under the control of the local waterway, they do not form part of the mooring agreement.

Access is for keyholders only and keys are issued by the Trust. Keys can be purchased from the Moorings Manager for a refundable deposit of £50 each. Refunds will be given on return of the key with a valid receipt.

Please note that this site is fed by the River Brent which drains a large area of North London. Heavy rainfall in the catchment area can result in flood conditions on the River Brent, and consequently in the Brentford area, with little or no warning. Although the mooring pontoons are designed on a rise and fall basis, access to the moorings at Brentford Island may not be possible, or advisable, during these times.

This site is partly a leisure site and is determined by us to be a mooring site for the storage of boats between leisure use, customers may well spend weekends on this site, and occasionally longer periods, but it is not sold as, or intended to be suitable for long term residential use. This site does not have local authority planning consent for residential use, neither does it have the level of facilities and service expected of such a mooring. As such the offer that we have is only intended to meet the needs of a leisure boater.
