Tyle Mill L1

Situated just over five miles to the south west of Reading, Tyle Mill moorings is an idyllic spot from which to explore the Kennet & Avon Canal.

There are two mooring areas, both on the towpath above and below the lock, which currently provide space for up to 11 boats in total.

The mooring site is in Tyle Mill, within half a mile of the village of Sulhamstead. Approach from the A4 along Sulhamstead Hill Road.

Access to the mooring site is from the west side of Tyle Mill swing bridge (23) and Tyle Mill lock (Lock 99). The site is located along the towpath.

Additional Information

Service facilities, including drinking water, elsan, a toilet, pump-out and refuse disposal, can be found on the off-side, within the wharf area. The facilities listed are provided by and under the control of the local waterway and provided for the use of all boating customers, they do not form part of the mooring agreement.

The open car parks on either side of the swing-bridge are provided by the local waterway. Moorers can use the car park on a first come first served basis, but they do not have any priority over others at this site.

The mooring rings are spaced at 5 metre intervals.

Local shops, pubs and services can be found in the nearby village of Theale, approximately two miles away. A wider range of shops and services can be found in Reading, approximately seven miles east.
