Kinver is a delightful village situated close to Stourport on the banks of the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal. The surrounding sandstone hills, the Kinver Edge Country Park and easy-walking trails attracts many visitors in the summer.
The towpath site provides space for up to 38 vessels in total, some with electricity and some without.
The mooring site is approx. 200 metres above Kinver Lock, to the north west of Br.29 (Dunsley Road). From the A449 turn off towards Kinver and head for the
village. You will approach the Vine public house and a canal bridge. After the bridge, turn immediately right into the entrance where you will approach a padlocked gate. Follow this drive until you reach the towpath moorings. There is parking on the approach track, just after the 1st cottage as you come through the access gate, with some further parking spaces nearer to the Hyde Lock end of the site. Please refrain from parking in the turning area by the Customer Service Facilities Block Building.
Kinver has a small selection of shops, including a convenience store and a number of pubs.
The facilities block (housing a toilet & elsan point), is located part-way along these towpath moorings, this is where you will also find the pump-out and a water point. There is a refuse compound located behind the facilities block. These facilities are not a dedicated for the Kinver mooring customers, as they are open for use by passing boats, as well as other canal users. Next to the facilities block there is a lay-by, which is predominantly used as a turning area for CRT Vehicles and service vehicles that come to empty the refuse bins, so this area must be kept clear at all times.
Access for vehicles onto the lane adjacent to these moorings is for mooring permit holders only and keys can be purchased from the Moorings Manager upon payment of a £50 deposit for each key, which is refundable upon return.
This is a leisure site and is determined by us to be a mooring site for the storage of boats between leisure use, customers may well spend weekends on this site, and occasionally longer periods, but it is not sold as, or intended to be suitable for long term residential use. This site does not have local authority planning consent for residential use, neither does it have the level of facilities and service expected of such a mooring. As such the offer that we have is only intended to meet the needs of a leisure boater.
