Located approximately half a mile from Castleford Town Centre, Castleford Cut moorings are popular for those who wish to explore the open countryside of West Yorkshire.
This mooring site is approximately 185 metres long and provides space for up to 13 vessels moored against the off-side bank.
The mooring site is just off the A656, Barnsdale Road, and is approximately half a mile from Castleford town centre.
The facilities block, which is for the use of all boaters, is approximately 500 metres from the mooring site. All of the facilities, except the refuse disposal, can be accessed by following the towpath and crossing over Castleford Lock via the steel footbridge. The refuse disposal is accessible without crossing the footbridge.
Mooring bollards and rings may need to be shared with neighbouring boats to best manage the water space.
The small car park is on a first come, first served basis and is at the Bulholme Lock end of the site. Further parking is currently available nearby, next to the bin store opposite Castleford Lock.
Access to the site from the main road is along a tarmac road which runs adjacent to the moorings.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The Aire and Calder Main Line is a commercial waterway and is used by freight vessels as well as pleasure craft. Larger freight traffic can cause some movement of the water space within the moorings as they pass. It is advised that you take adequate precautions by fitting fenders to your boat and securely tying off to the bollards provided.
All customer items must be stored on boats and not on any of the surrounding land areas.
OK for mobility difficulties
The site is easily accessible and prospective customers can view the moorings at any time. If you intend to visit the site please have respect for other users.
