Bank Newton is a small hamlet on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal close to the Yorkshire Dales. The historic market town of Skipton in North Yorkshire is approximately five miles away and the village of Gargrave 2 miles away. The mooring site is approximately 15 miles away by car from the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The Canal & River Trust offers 6 moorings at Bank Newton Lock 164 which is on the towpath side.
The site is at Bank Newton, just off Marton Road and accessed via a dirt track.
Gargrave is approximately one and a half miles away, with the main A65 running through it.
The nearest water facility is at Lock 36 which is 5 locks away from the site.
The Canal & River Trust offer no parking at this site so moorers must make alternate arrangements.
This mooring site is in a remote rural location with public access. A gated entrance is installed with a small open access area at the side.
IMPORTANT NOTES: Due to the width of the canal in this area, boats over 2.5 metres wide cannot be accommodated.
Mooring rings may be shared with neighbouring boats to best manage the water space.
This is a leisure site and is determined by us to be a mooring site for the storage of boats between leisure use, customers may well spend weekends on this site, and occasionally longer periods, but it is not sold as, or intended to be suitable for long term residential use. This site does not have local authority planning consent for residential use, neither does it have the level of facilities and service expected of such a mooring. As such the offer that we have is only intended to meet the needs of a leisure boater.
