Located in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Llangattock Off-side is one of four Waterside Mooring sites managed by the Canal & River Trust on the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal.
Though isolated from the rest of the Trust's 2,000 mile network, the Mon & Brec as it is popularly known, is rated as one of the prettiest to be found anywhere on the waterway system.
This mooring site is approximately 230m long and currently provides space for up to 18 vessels moored against the off-side bank of the canal.
Over the winter period of 2016 & 2017, the entire length of the moorings has been relined with concrete, with new stonework to the waterway walls in front of the lime kilns.
To reach the site, approach Llangattock on the B4558 and at the traffic lights (T junction) turn right into Hilltop Road (the Llangattock/Beaufort Road). Continue until the road forks and take the right hand fork which goes down to the canal bridge. The offside moorings are on the right, immediately after crossing over Bridge 115.
The nearest village is Crickhowell, approximately 2 miles away, where a variety of shops can be found.
There is a sanitary station, with toilets, showers and elsan disposal, within the car parking area, adjacent to the site. The sanitary station is for the use of all boaters. The refuse bins are inside the access gate, next to the sanitary station building. There are several water points along the length of the mooring site. There is also a lovely picnic area on top of the lime kilns, with an access path around the side of the lime kiln buildings.
Access to the parking area and sanitary station is via a locked gate which requires a standard Canal & River Trust key. Keys can be purchased from any CRT office.
All the facilities listed are provided by and under the control of the local waterway, they do not form part of the mooring agreement.
There is a community boat club based at this site.
This is a leisure site and is determined by us to be a mooring site for the storage of boats between leisure use, customers may well spend weekends on this site, and occasionally longer periods, but it is not sold as, or intended to be suitable for long term residential use. This site does not have local authority planning consent for residential use, neither does it have the level of facilities and service expected of such a mooring. As such the offer that we have is only intended to meet the needs of a leisure boater.
No public access to boats.
All customer items must be stored on their boat and not upon any of the surrounding land areas at the mooring site.
The mooring can be viewed at any time.
