The vibrant village of Audlem lies approximately half way between Nantwich and Market Drayton on the border of Cheshire and Shropshire. The moorings are located on the picturesque Shropshire Union Canal which forms part of the Four Counties Ring - a circular route which takes in stunning canalside historic houses, pretty half-timbered market towns and an array of nearby leisure and cultural attractions. Audlem has a number of attractions including a popular annual music festival and carnival.
Audlem North moorings are located between locks 13 and 14 in a flight of fifteen locks in Audlem which take the water level down from the Shropshire heights to the Cheshire Plain, some 93 feet (30 metres).
The mooring site is approximately 150m long and provides space for up to 9 vessels moored on the off-bank side.
The moorings are approximately 300 metres north of the Town Bridge which is to the left as you leave the town. The bridge carries the A525 Nantwich to Whitchurch road through the town. To reach the site turn right into a service road immediately after the pub, and next to the Town Bridge. The moorings are just below the lock, opposite the old lock keepers house.
Audlem town is nearby where a library, pubs, restaurants and a small selection of shops can be found.
Facilities are available in the Audlem Town service building, approximately 100 meters from the site provided by and under the control of the local waterway, they do not form part of the mooring agreement. The south lock is between the moorings and the facilities.
There is no car park at this site so customers must make alternative arrangements.
Mooring rings are installed at 8-meter intervals.
This is a leisure site and is determined by us to be a mooring site for the storage of boats between leisure use, customers may well spend weekends on this site, and occasionally longer periods, but it is not sold as, or intended to be suitable for long term residential use. This site does not have local authority planning consent for residential use, neither does it have the level of facilities and service expected of such a mooring. As such the offer that we have is only intended to meet the needs of a leisure boater.
The site can be easily viewed opposite from the towpath. Please respect current moorers privacy when viewing the site.
