Stourport-on-Severn is a long way from the sea, but has the atmosphere of a true maritime holiday resort. Not surprisingly people from all over the region have been coming here for many years for a fun day out.
At the peak, Stourport was one of the busiest inland ports and to service increased traffic, a complex series of interconnecting basins evolved at the junction of the two waterways - the River Severn and the Staffordhsire & Worcestershire Canal. Today, these present a fascinating historic heritage landscape.
The Canal & River Trust provides over 50 moorings across the upper and lower basins and a range of facilities are available (please see individual mooring descriptions for more details).

There is a one-way system that circumnavigates the main town centre. From the direction of Kidderminster this road is the main A451 and enters the town along Lion Hill. Where the road bends right into York Street continue straight on into Mart Lane, entering the main upper basin mooring area. After the basin bridge immediately turn right to reach the limited free parking spaces next to the moorings. Walk away from the car park towards the river keeping the upper moorings on your right. The Canal & River Trust basin office is now on the left with the lower wide beam basin moorings visible between the office building and the River Severn. Access the lower wide beam basin across the bridge or locks.

There is a facilities block, shared with passing boaters, next to the upper basin moorings in Mart Lane. This is a 5 minute walk from the lower basin, or a short sail through one lock into the upper basin.
There is also a toilet next to the Canal & River Trust basin office, a 2 minute walk from the moorings. All the services available at the service block are provided by and under the control of the local waterway, they do not form part of the mooring agreement.
There are limited public parking spaces at the end of Mart Lane, next to the Canal & River Trust basin office. Moorers can park here, but parking cannot be reserved and these spaces are available on a first come first served basis. Mooring berth holders do not have any priority over others.
Not all berths in the wide-beam basin have access to an electric bollard. Please see individual vacancy listings for confirmation as to whether the mooring does or does not have access to electricity.
Boats are secured by mooring rings, which are spaced at 5 metre intervals within the basin. This mooring is within the wide-beam basin and old dry dock, just above the wide-beam lock entrance.
The wide beam basin gives immediate access to the main line canal and River Severn by utilizing the locks.
This is a leisure site and is determined by us to be a mooring site for the storage of boats between leisure use, customers may well spend weekends on this site, and occasionally longer periods, but it is not sold as, or intended to be suitable for long term residential use. This site does not have local authority planning consent for residential use, neither does it have the level of facilities and service expected of such a mooring. As such the offer that we have is only intended to meet the needs of a leisure boater.
