Shade House Lock L1 Leisure

Shade House Lock Moorings are located on the Trent & Mersey Canal close to Lichfield in Staffordshire. Fradley Junction and the start of the Coventry Canal is within a short cruise.

The mooring site is approximately 125m long and provides space for up to four vessels moored on the off-bank side.

Nearest Road

To reach the site from the A38 Lichfield / Derby truck road, take the Alrewas junction and travel west along the A513 towards Kings Bromley. After approximately two miles turn left into Hay End Lane at Orgreave. Immediately before the canal bridge turn right. Follow the access road past the pub and the site is located between Middle Lock and Shade House Lock.

Additional Information

The nearest facilities, including drinking water, refuse and elsan disposal, pump-out, toilets and showers, are available within the Canal & River Trust site at Fradley Junction.

Facilities Block and/or waste bins are provided by and under the control of the local waterway, they do not form part of the mooring agreement.

A pay and display car park and cafe can also be found at the Fradley Junction site.

A public house is within walking distance of the site, next to the canal junction. Lichfield is five miles to the south.

This is a leisure site and is determined by us to be a mooring site for the storage of boats between leisure use, customers may well spend weekends on this site, and occasionally longer periods, but it is not sold as, or intended to be suitable for long term residential use. This site does not have local authority planning consent for residential use, neither does it have the level of facilities and service expected of such a mooring. As such the offer that we have is only intended to meet the needs of a leisure boater.

The site can be viewed at anytime from the Towpath. Whilst at the site, please respect the privacy of other moorers
