Sawley Lock L1 is located on a navigational cut of the River Trent near Long Eaton. The site is easily accessed from the M1 motorway and Long Eaton railway station, making it convenient for Nottingham, Leicester, and Derby. It sits opposite Sawley Marina, which offers chandlery and boat repairs to non-marina customers.

This site is intended for leisure boat storage between trips. Weekend stays and occasional longer visits are welcome, but it is not suitable for residential use and does not have planning consent or infrastructure for long-term living.

Nearest Road
Approaching the site from Long Eaton, turn off the B6540 Tamworth Road, immediately before the canal bridge, onto the access track. Turn left again and go through the gate (code required) and follow the access track for approx 400 metres until you reach the car parking area. Please note that there is NO vehicle access along the towpath. There is a small selection of shops and a railway station in Sawley village, approximately one mile away to the north east. Long Eaton town centre, where services including banks, a post office, pubs and restaurants are available is approximately three miles away.

Additional Information
The elsan disposal can be found in the car parking area. The refuse disposal point is near the carpark. A number of waterpoints are positioned along the length of the mooring site. Elsan disposal and/or waste bins are provided by and under the control of the local waterway, they do not form part of the mooring agreement. Car Parking - an open car park provided by the local waterway, moorers can use it but they do not have any priority over others at this site. This is a leisure site and is determined by us to be a mooring site for the storage of boats between leisure use, customers may well spend weekends on this site, and occasionally longer periods, but it is not sold as, or intended to be suitable for long term residential use. This site does not have local authority planning consent for residential use, neither does it have the level of facilities and service expected of such a mooring.
